The Confederation of Spanish American Families is a non-for-profit organization that offers what we like to call the \\\"PhD - Pursuing higher Dreams,\\\" abstinence education program. We focus on abstinence from Sex, Alcohol, Drugs, and Violence, by promoting healthier lifestyles and family unity among people of Hispanic origin and offer a variety of educational and social services designed to help people avoid activities detrimental to themselves, their family, and society, such as unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse and violence. CSAF offers two community-based programs, the Teen Abstinence Program and the Parent Empowerment Program.
The Teen Abstinence program is designed to educate adolescents and teens about abstinence as well as many teen issues and how to deal with them. It\\\'s supported by the books \\\"Game Plan\\\" and \\\"Navigator.\\\" Since we feel family values are very important in the development of a good and healthy person, we\\\'ve designed the Parent Empowerment Program \\\"Preparando a mis Hijos para la Vida\\\", which offers techniques and ways to better a family and is supported by the book we designed specifically for the parents. Both programs are offered at schools, community centers and/or churches in the Hispanic communities throughout Chicago by CSAF Educators.
