East Side Health District\'s Abstinence Education Program implements a three-pronged program using school-based, church-based, and community-based interventions. With local partners, Genesis Ministry for the Arts and the YWCA of St. Clair County, ESHD\'s abstinence program aims to increase the number of teens who successfully complete an abstinence education program, reduce the number of teens who engage in teen premarital sexual activity, reduce teen pregnancy, and empower youth to promote abstinence, delay sexual activity and have a greater sense of self-esteem so that they may advance in their educational, professional, and personal lives.
