ReL8 exists to educate young people and create an environment within the counties of Madison and St. Clair, Illinois that support teen decisions to postpone sexual activity until marriage. The goal of the program is to increase the percentage of adolescents aged 12-18 years who choose to practice abstinence until marriage, that are underserved by other systems, and open to the message of delaying sex until marriage.
ReL8 is using A&M\'s Game Plan middle school curriculum in grades 6th-8th and Navigator high school curriculum for grades 9th-12th. The eight day curriculums meet federal A-H guidelines while guiding students through the myths of media, the dangers and risks of sex outside of marriage, and mapping a plan for their futures. ReL8 combines this strong curricullum with presenters that are able to connect with teens and actively engage them in the learning process - therefore increasing the impact of the curriculum.
ReL8 also seeks to increase parent/guardian and child connectivity. In addition to the \\\"Parent Link\\\" provided in the curriculum, ATM has developed one-night parent workshops to further educate and encourage parents to talk to their children about abstinence. ReL8 also offers abstinence presentations, mentoring, and special events to local youth groups and community organizations.
